Clone Assassins were Clone Troopers, later Clone Stormtroopers, utilized by the Galactic Republic and early Empire for the purpose of attacking enemies through hand-to-hand conflict, but were secretly going to be used by Darth Sidious to kill Jedi after Order 66[1].
History
Clone Wars
During the Clone Wars, Clone Assassins saw little to no action, but those that did fight in the war for the Galactic Republic were a part of the 501st Legion and usually trained in combat with Jedi padawans at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant[2].
Order 66
Following the activation of Order 66, several Clone Assassins were used by Darth Vader during his attack on the Jedi Temple at the end of the Clone Wars. Upon their victory in defeating the Jedi attempting to protect the Temple from the invading "stormtroopers", Vader had the Assassins guard the Temple Communications center, as he had planted a beacon that would lure any surviving Jedi back to Coruscant, only to be killed by the Clone Stormtroopers positioned at the Temple.
