Clone Sharpshooters were units of Clone Trooper that wore armor similar to that of an Airborne Trooper[1] that were trained to become skilled snipers that were utilized by both the Galactic Republic and by the early Galactic Empire. They would soon become Imperial Sharpshooters while serving the Imperial Army as Clone Stormtroopers up until the Clone Army was decommissioned by Emperor Palpatine[2].

History Edit

The Clone Wars Edit

Clone Sharpshooters were first used by the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars, created purely to become the most skilled and accurate snipers in the entire Clone Army. Unlike their fellow clone brethren, Clone Sharpshooters were given flash training[3] to better their skills as sharpshooters.

Like the rest of the Clone Army, Clone Sharpshooters were first used by the Galactic Republic during the First Battle of Geonosis[4] and proved to be the skilled sharpshooters that the Kaminoans created them to be, being able to destroy several Separatist battle droids during the battle[5]. These clones would continue to serve the Galactic Republic for the rest of the Clone Wars up until the execution of Order 66[6].

Order 66 Edit

When Order 66 was executed, several Clone Sharpshooters from the 501st Legion were sent to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant with Darth Vader and the other Clones in the Legion to eliminate the Jedi threat[7]. During this confrontation, several Sharpshooters were killed by the Jedi protecting the Temple, though a handful of Sharpshooters did manage to survive the attack. The remaining sharpshooters would then be ordered by Vader to guard the temple with other Clones, including a few Clone Assassins[8], from any Jedi that managed to survive Order 66. These clones were then killed by Jedi Masters Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda when they arrived in the Temple.

Service in the Galactic Empire Edit

Following the execution of Order 66, Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine reorganized the Republic into the Galactic Empire, rebranding the Clone Troopers into Imperial Stormtroopers, and as such, Clone Sharpshooters became known as Imperial Sharpshooter, being equipped with new armor that resembled that of an Imperial Scout Trooper[9]. As Imperial Sharpshooters, these Clones would serve the Empire for a few years during the Great Jedi Purge, up until the decommissioning of the Clone Army[10].
